If you’ve landed here, you’re probably the kind of person who thinks about travel the way I do which is to say, a little too much, and never quite enough.
I’m Husain. I’ve spent twenty years in the travel industry. For the last decade, I’ve been running Global Journeys — a Mumbai-based travel company I founded to do things the way I always believed they should be done. Building bespoke journeys for people who know what they want but aren’t entirely sure how to get it right. That’s the job. And I love it genuinely, not in the way people say they love things on LinkedIn.
But here’s what nobody tells you about planning other people’s trips for two decades: you accumulate a very specific kind of knowledge. Not just the practical kind though there’s plenty of that. The other kind. The kind that comes from standing in the same piazza your clients will stand in three weeks later, eating the same lunch, and knowing exactly which table they should ask for. The kind that comes from getting things wrong in Kyoto so your guests don’t have to.
This journal is where that knowledge lives now. The parts that don’t fit in an itinerary. The detours that turned out to be the point. The places that surprised me and I don’t surprise easily anymore.
Where I’ve Been
Japan has ruined me for punctuality everywhere else. France keeps pulling me back in ways I can’t entirely explain. I’ve watched the sun rise over the Serengeti and felt, for the first time in a long time, genuinely small. Georgia caught me off guard which is the best thing a destination can do. Portugal is deeply underrated and I will die on that hill. The Indian wilderness — Kaziranga, the Sundarbans, the forests of central India has given me more than any international destination I can name.
I’ve been to Switzerland, Spain, Italy, the African safari circuit, and a long list of places in between. I still get excited before a trip. That hasn’t changed.
What I Do
I run Global Journeys — a Mumbai-based travel company that designs bespoke journeys for people who want to travel well. Not expensively, necessarily. Well. There’s a difference, and it matters.
Most of what we do is luxury and premium travel — crafted itineraries, considered hotel choices, the kind of planning where the goal is that nothing feels planned at all. About seventy percent of our work is international; the rest is India, which continues to astonish me and everyone else who pays it proper attention.

What This Journal Is
This isn’t a travel guide. There are plenty of those, and most of them are fine.
This is closer to a notebook the things I noticed, the conversations I had, the moments that didn’t make it into anyone’s itinerary but probably should have. I write about India as much as I write about anywhere else, because India rewards attention in ways that are genuinely hard to overstate.
I write slowly and I post when I have something worth saying. You won’t find a post every week. You will, I hope, find something worth reading when you do.
